PANO – VietJet Air on May 24th filled an order to buy LEAP-1B aircraft engines made by CFM International for its 100 Boeing 737 MAX 200s bought in a contract with the US Boeing Group on May 23rd.
The order is worth USD $3 billion, including 15 engines for reserve. The engines ordered are expected to be delivered to the carrier from 2019 to 2030.

LEAP-1B is a model of aircraft engine developed by CFM International, a joint venture of GE Aviation and Safran Aircraft Engines. CFM International is the top aircraft engine provider in the world. The company has delivered nearly 30,000 engines to clients. LEAP is a best-selling engine model in aviation, with more than 10,500 orders by April 2016. LEAP engines help lower fuel consumption by 15%, compared to other engines produced by CFM at present.
The first Boeing 733 MAX 200 equipped with LEAP-1B engines has been operational since January 2016. CFM International has also been developing LEAP engines for Airbus and COMAC airplanes.
