With the construction beginning in September 2016, the facility had investment of VND 7 trillion (USD 308 million). Spanning 17 hectares, it is capable of producing 20,000 cars on an annual basis. Eighty percent of the plant’s equipment was designed and made in Vietnam by Thaco engineers, while Thaco buses have about 50 percent of their parts manufactured domestically.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung stressed Thaco buses with high localization proportion are in line with the national development strategy for auto development toward 2025.

Dung requested the company improve infrastructure and workforce capacity to reduce prices of products.

He said the Government is committed to creating better policy serving the demand of auto firms during their implementation of the national strategy for the sector.

On the occasion, Thaco signed contracts to export 1,150 cars to Thailand, Taiwan (China), the Philippines, and Cambodia.
