Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) will continue to pour its capital to build a hi-tech complex named the “Samsung Complex” that may cost some US$ 1.5 billion during 2015-2020.
Under the plan, SEV will put into operation the second mobile phone production line in September in an attempt to bring its total production capacity in Vietnam to 100 million products per year in 2012.
The Vice-Director of SEV, Nguyen Van Dao, said that Samsung does not only expand production but also researches and experiments a good deal of new technology in Vietnam.
Sources also said that more than 95 per cent of SEV mobile phones made in Vietnam are exported to Europe and several Asian markets. Especially, 99 per cent of its key product of Galaxy SII is exported and only 1 per cent is sold in the domestic market.
“All of Samsung’s spearheaded products like Galaxy Tap 7, Galaxy SII and Galaxy Tap 10 in the near future are made in Vietnam to export to the world,” said the Vice-Director.
Experts said that one of the good things of SEV’s production expansion is that this will foster the development of a number of other supporting industries.
