The first gas flow from Ca Ngu Vang oil field has just been brought into production, according to Hoan Vu joint management company.
The company is a joint venture between PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corporation (holding 50 per cent of total capital), Hoan Vu PTT Exploration and Production company, Thailand (25 per cent) and SOCO Vietnam, Britain (25 per cent).
The Ca Ngu Vang oil field is in the 9-2 block, Cuu Long down-warping area, about 140 km off Vung Tau city. The field was discovered in October 2002 and the plan for production had been made by the end of 2006.
The extracted oil and gas from the field is transported via an underground pipe system of 25 km long to the oil and gas processing equipment at Bach Ho oil field. There rich gas is processed and conveyed to shore for different consumption demands for natural, liquefied or condensed gas in the domestic market.
According to estimates, the production capacity of Ca Ngu Vang field may reach 10,000-20,000 barrel of crude oil and 25-50 million cubic meters of gas per day.
