A new garment factory is going to be built in Cu Chi district (Ho Chi Minh City) at a cost of up to 3.5 million USD, said Ngo Trung kien, director general of Saigon Joint-stock Garment Company 2.

Reportedly, the factory with 3000 workers in phase 1 will be built on an area of 120,000m2, and specialise in producing women’s clothes for export to the US.

Phase 2 of the project will be carried out in 2007 to upgrade the factory’s productivity from 2.5 million to 5 million units per year.
