The agreement will help develop Vietnam's economy.

According to the agreement, M1 Communication Company is allowed to use Qualcomm’s patents to manufacture and sell finished 3G/4G devices to meet the demand of people in the Industry 4.0 era. With the agreement, Viettel’s company has become one of the original equipment manufacturers which have the permission to approach Qualcomm’s leading mobile technologies. 

This agreement between the U.S. and Vietnamese businesses will help boost the development of the smartphone industry and the Internet of Things (IoT) of Vietnam as well as assist the Vietnamese Government in reaching targets in Industry 4.0 and in the shifting to the digital economy.

Nguyen Dinh Chien, Viettel’s Deputy General Director emphasized opportunities from the agreement and affirmed that it will help the group realize its goal to become a leading original equipment manufacturer in the world by 2020.

At present, Viettel is among powerful and fast-developing mobile service providers in the Southeast Asia region. The military-run business is providing its services in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America with more than 100 million customers worldwide and is continually expanding its market.
