PANO – Lam Dong is the only locality in southern Vietnam that has suitable climatic conditions to farm salmon.

In 2006, pilot farming of salmon was started in some areas of the province and the results were encouraging.

The mass farming of the fish has since been conducted by local households and businesses.

There are now 8 businesses involved with a total capacity of some 200 tons per year.

Farming this fish can bring relatively high profit to farmers, yet they still have to import special food and breeding and production costs are still high.
