“Ambassador” of world’s cloud computing in Vietnam
PANO - Le Quang Hieu, Deputy Director of the Global Operation Center of Viettel Networks Corporation (VTNet), an affiliate of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), has made important contributions to the Viettel Group’s world ranking in open source cloud computing platforms.
After graduating from the Hanoi-based University of Technology, Hieu worked for the Viettel Institute of Research and Development for three years.

In 2016, he started worked for Fujitsu Vietnam, a Japanese company specializing in semiconductors, computing, communications, and services. As a Fujitsu staff member in Vietnam, Hieu had numerous opportunities to participate in international workshops organized by open source communities from around the world. It was those seminars that urged him to “reunite” with Viettel. He passed on invitations from various leading international groups and companies after deciding to leave Fijitsu despite the company’s high financial offerings because his wish was to contribute more to national development.
In Viettel Group, Hieu is the VTNet Deputy Director in charge of cloud computing research. Authorized by the group’s leadership and deserving their trust, Hieu and his young colleagues have carried out Viettel’s strategic mission of building technology architecture and cloud computing platforms for the group’s 2019-2021 road-map of information technology and telecoms infrastructure development.

Currently, VTNet-developed infrastructure is in the leading group of global open source cloud computing infrastructure.
Able to master the cloud computing system, the company has effectively managed 300 cloud computing servers for Viettel and saved millions of USD for the group.
As announced by the website www.stackalytics.com, Viettel is now in the top 50 in the world and ranked No.1 in the Southeast Asian region in contributing source code and working out open source cloud computing solutions.
Viettel’s success partly comes from the great contributions of Hieu who is the co-founder of the Vietnam OpenStack Community, which was selected as a representative of Vietnam by the OpenStack Foundation.
With his achievements, Le Quang Hieu has been listed as one of the ten most outstanding youngsters in the military in 2019 and one of the ten most promising youngsters of 2019.
