The event, jointly organized by the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Defense and Ministries of Industry and Trade, was part of the activities to mark the 60th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San and Lao Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San affirmed that during the long history of national construction and defense of the two nations, the Vietnamese and Lao people have together built a unique friendship that has become an exemplary and faithful international relationship.

He said that the exhibition creates favorable conditions for the two countries to further promote friendship exchanges and comprehensive cooperation, firmly consolidate the traditional partnership, enhance the understanding of the revolutionary history, and strengthen the faithful solidarity between them.
At the event, Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone said that the complicated and unpredictable developments of regional and international situation, global economic-financial difficulties, and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic have severely affected the socio-economic development of countries, including Laos and Vietnam. Despite those difficulties, the cooperative relationship between the two parties, the two states, and the two militaries have continued to develop in intensive and effective manner.

The “Welcome the year of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos 2022” fair and exhibition, running from now to November 7, includes spaces to introduce military businesses’ products and services and technologies serving defense missions and meeting daily needs of enterprises from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, and Japan. The event also popularizes consumer goods, agricultural products, and food.
