During the event, Minister Tran Tuan Anh thanked the Brunei side for its support for Vietnam’s ASEAN Chair.

He also hoped that Brunei would further support Vietnam in maintaining and reinforcing the supply chain and trade, contributing to boosting trade and recovering in the post-pandemic period and making ASEAN an attractive investment destination in the future.

In addition, the Vietnamese Government is considering projects to link with safe countries with no new COVID-19 cases in the last 30 days by renewing two-way trade and tourism.

For his part, the Brunei minister congratulated Vietnam on its success in organizing the Meeting of the ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) and the Special ASEAN Plus Three Economic Ministers (AEM+3) meeting on June 4.

He also spoke highly of and hoped for the prompt implementation of the Hanoi Plan of Action to bolster ASEAN economic cooperation and supply chain connectivity amid COVID-19 and foster economic recovery after the pandemic.

During the conversation, the Brunei minister also wanted to promote cooperation with Vietnam to prepare for the transition of the ASEAN Chairmanship next year.

He also suggested the establishment of a technical exchange channel to regularly discuss issues of the transition.

Minister Tran Tuan Anh agreed and said Vietnam stands ready to share experience and support Brunei when the country becomes the ASEAN Chair next year.
