An exhibition by two German architects Markus Heinsdorff and Christoph Tonges highlighting two traditional Vietnamese materials - wood and bamboo - will open at Goethe Institute on June 7.

The exhibition will introduce projects using wood and bamboo by the two architects, focusing on the combination of art and design. The combination of high-tech and traditional materials employed by the architects has helped create new designs and great art works.

Bamboo is not only a symbol of Vietnamese villages, but also a respected material in modern architecture. Due to its elastic, light and hard characteristics, bamboo not only meets customers’ demands, but can also create masterpieces in graphic design.

Architect Markus Heinsdorff is working with Vietnamese architects for a big project in Vietnam. He has attended many projects Asia, the US and Europe. His recent project on bamboo sculpture in Indonesia has been highly acclaimed by experts.
