National sports festival for ethnic minority groups opens
PANO - The Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee and the General Department of Sport and Physical Training co-held the 13th national sports festival for ethnic minority groups, Region II in 2023, in Pleiku city, Gia Lai.

Taking place from June 17 to 23, the sports festival has drawn the participation of nearly 450 athletes from 13 localities in the Southern provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong.
Accordingly, the participants compete in various contents, including men’s football, men’s and women’s volleyball, cross-country running, crossbow shooting, stick-pushing, and tug-of-war, to name but a few.
The festival aims to raise the quality of people’s cultural and spiritual life and encourage ethnic minority people to actively take part in the campaign of all people doing exercises following Uncle Ho’s example, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
