At the press meeting

The festival was introduced at a press conference on April 20 by the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

It will feature 30 hot air balloons of all kinds, including six level-7 ones (three hanging balloons, two free-flying balloons, one sightseeing hot air balloon), 20 hanging level-1 hot air balloons and four ground decoration hot air balloons, four to five motorized paragliders, and three flycams. Attentively, the balloon for sightseers will be operated three to five hours a day and able to carry 20-30 people for every four-to-six-minute watch.

The festival’s main activities will be a flag-saluting and opening ceremony, a balloon lantern night, hot air balloon performances at Can Tho Stadium, and the flying of giant national flag at Hung Kings temple.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Truong Cong Quoc Viet stressed that the festival is among a series of activities to be hosted by the city’s people’s committee to mark important celebrations such as Hung Kings’ death anniversary (March 10), the 48th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30), the International Workers’ Day (May 1), and President Ho Chi Minh’s 133rd birthday anniversary (May 19).

Mr. Viet said that if it is successful, this pilot event will be held annually and make contribution to promoting local trade and tourism, attracting tourists, and creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere for the entire city on celebration days.
