PANO – The 16th World Police Music Gala, held by the Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Japan’s Mainichi newspaper, opened at the Ly Thai To Park in Hanoi on October 23rd with participation of 204 instrumentalists of 4 delegations from the host country Vietnam, the USA, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

The World Police Music Gala is an initiative of the Japanese newspaper aiming to set up a safe society by carrying out international exchanges among nations’ police forces. Since 1996, the event has been held annually in different nations around the world.

Addressing the ceremony, Lieutenant-General Dang Van Hieu, Deputy-Minister of Public Security, believed that through this gala, Vietnam wanted to send a message of solidarity, friendship and cooperation in many fields among nations worldwide, including crime-fighting and security preservation.

Taking part in the 16th World Police Music Gala are four delegations, the People’s Police troupe of the Ministry of Public Security with 58 members, the Tokyo police (Japan) with 58 members, the New York police (USA) with 47 members and the Seoul police (RoK) with 41 members.

After opening ceremony, the four groups performed around the Sword Lake and then they will present at the Hanoi Opera House on the evening of October 24th.
