Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc speaks at the event |
In his opening speech, Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnamese Journalists’ Association and Head of the Awards Council Thuan Huu underscored that over the past year, press and media products in general and those sent to National Press Awards in particular have reflected major and important events of the country, including the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, and Politburo’s Directive No.05 on promoting the movement "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, morals, and style”, and other important issues in the society.
According to Thuan Huu, all entries considerably demonstrated the creativeness and dedication of Vietnamese journalists. There is no big difference in quality between press and media works from central and local press and media agencies, he said, adding that many local press agencies’ reportages were highly valued.
In addition, the winning works are outstanding ones in terms of both contents and forms, which remarkably contributed to orienting public opinion and positively affecting the community, concluded Thuan Huu.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Phuc thanked generations of journalists nationwide for their contributions to the development of the revolutionary press.
Accordingly, the journalists have actively contributed to building the Party and State, reflected objectively important developments in the country’s political life, and performed the functions of overseeing, social criticism and fighting corruption and wastefulness.
