Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to launch Tet programs

PANO - The program “Discovering Tet” (Vietnamese traditional New Year festival) will be held on January 30th (Lunar December 21st) by the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology with the participation of students from primary and high schools of various localities in Hanoi.
During the program, the students will have the chance to explore Tet through a number of activities such as making Chung cake (glutinous rice cake), calligraphy, Dong Ho paintings exhibition and folk games, to better their understanding of the traditional features and values of Tet.

On February 13th and 14th (Lunar January 6th & 7th), the museum will organize the “Year of the Monkey Festival” with diversified activities introducing Tet. This year's program will introduce visitors to cultural features in Kon Tum province in the Central Highlands via art performances such as the Tha Gong (the Brau ethnic people), the Gongs & Xoang (the Bana ethnic people) and the Klong put (The Xo Dang ethnic people). Cuisine of the Central Highlands will also form part of the program on this occasion, featuring traditional dishes by ethnic groups in Kon Tum province, including dried beef, salted ant eggs, bamboo-tube rice and tube wine (ruou can).
Apart from Central Highlands’ activities, traditional dancing and folk games of some ethnic groups and the Thai cuisine in Yen Bai province will also be staged.
Particularly, the water puppetry, calligraphy, swinging activities and Thai cuisine display will be organized from the 4th to the 7th Lunar January (February 11th to 14th).
