"Russian Day" was held at the National Convention Centre in Ha Noi on Nov. 17 to introduce images of Russia as well as friendly relations between Russia and Viet Nam to APEC member economies.
Speaking at the event, organised by the RIA Novosti News and Information Agency, Russian Ambassador to Viet Nam V.V. Serafimov, said "We find that Viet Nam has successfully played the role of the APEC Chair as you have preserved and upheld the tradition of constructive cooperation of economies in the Asia-Pacific region."
Viet Nam's advocacy to implement the role of the chair has reflected practical aspirations of regional partners, thus mobilising resources to reach the set targets, he said, adding that the hospitality, sincere affection and thoughtful care for friends - a fine tradition of the Vietnamese people - is the decisive factor for this success.
The ambassador said while carrying out the difficult mission as the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, Viet Nam had proven itself to be a prestigious partner in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
One of the important results that Viet Nam would achieve when hosting the APEC forum was valuable experiences in organising large-scale international events, he noted.
The diplomat also expressed his belief that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit this time would create a driving force for further promoting bilateral cooperation in many areas in combination with regional and global integration.
