PANO – A traditional cultural festival was organised at the historical and cultural relics area of poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s grave and temple in An Duoc commune, Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province to mark the 186th birth and 120th death anniversary of patriot Nguyen Dinh Chieu.
During the festival from June 30 to July 2, tourists were entertained by many animated activities, such as festive drum performances, unicorn dance, martial arts show, dressing as characters from the work “Luc Van Tien” by Nguyen Dinh Chieu, competitions, Ben Tre’s socio-economic achievements exhibition and antique display.
Together with cultural programmes, tourists also paid homage to the poet by offering him incense and visiting his “rest in peace” place.
The festival was an opportunity for Ba Tri district to honour the cultural value and bright morals of the poet cum teacher, patriot Nguyen Dinh Chieu who preferred blindness to seeing the country dominated by foreign invaders.
