Military musician pays tribute to anti-pandemic frontline forces
PANO - Amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, a female border guard musician shared her sympathy for comrades who are on the frontline of the fight against the disease through two meaningful songs.
As a musician and cadre in the Cultural House of the Vietnam Border Guard Command’s Department of Politics, non-commissioned Lieutenant Colonel Vu Huyen Ngoc is well aware of her comrades’ silent and noble sacrifices in the battle against the pandemic.
She is fully aware of the troops’ sacrifices and efforts to strictly manage trails and open paths and tracks along the borderline to effectively implement the dual tasks of protecting national sovereignty and preventing the spread of COVID-19. In fact, these soldiers have voluntarily undertaken such special missions to protect the Fatherland and people despite their own families’ difficulties.
Therefore, through her songs, Ngoc would like to pay tribute to the wholehearted border troops as well as encourage them to overcome hindrances to fulfill all assigned missions.
The two songs are “Giu mai mau xanh” (Border Guards’ love to the Fatherland) and “Loi ru noi tuyen dau” (Lullabies resounding on the frontline).
The first song highlights border guards’ love for their country. Facing the pressure of a heavy workload, the border troops are still determined to firmly protect the Fatherland. The song also honors military-civilian ties as well as comradeship.
Meanwhile, the second song was composed based on a poem last month amid the complicated development of the pandemic.
According to the composer, the major source of her inspiration to compose the song came from the image of many brave doctors who voluntarily rushed to pandemic hotspots to help locals cope with the pandemic outbreak.
Notably, many of the female health workers, including breastfeeding mothers, left their children at home and sacrificed their own happiness for the greater love - patriotism.
Ngoc also hoped that her two songs would encourage the anti-COVID-19 frontline forces so that the pandemic would be controlled at the soonest time and these heroic soldiers could be reunited with their families.
