Themed “Preserving and promoting traditional cultural features of ethnic minorities,” the festival helped strengthen the great national unity bloc, honor and promote the traditional cultural identities of ethnic minorities with a population of fewer than 10,000 people in particular and of 54 ethnic minority groups in Vietnam in general.

Addressing the event, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tong Thanh Hai affirmed that the festival was well prepared, thoroughly organized. It received due attention from leaders of the Party, State, ministries, and departments. The festival was carried out safely, economically, practically, and effectively, drawing a large number of local people and visitors.
The organizers presented 31 A, 36 B, 12 C prizes for such categories as exhibition space, display of typical cultural products; public art festival; performance of ethnic groups’ traditional costumes; and performance of festival excerpts, traditional cultural rituals of ethnic minority groups.
The organizers also awarded 31 sets of medals to best athletes of three sports events, namely stick-pushing, crossbow-shooting, and tug-of-war.

On the occasion, in recognition of their good contribution to successfully organizing the festival, 18 collectives and five individuals were presented with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s certificates of merit while 20 groups and 30 individuals received merit certificates of the Lai Chau provincial People’s Committee.
