A collection of paintings by rural children depicting nature and scenes of daily life is on display at
Hue's Exhibition House.
The 81 watercolour, pastel and wax paintings on display, done by students aged from six to 13 studying at rural schools in Huong Thuy District in Thua Thien-Hue Province, were chosen from painting competitions launched by local authorities.
The most vivid is Phong Canh Lang Que (A View of the Countryside), a pastel by Trinh Thi Tra My of Thuy Luong Primary School.
Her work shows a boy playing on a village street while his mother carries rice in a shoulder pole.
The eight-year-old girl has skillfully used green, violet, yellow, and black to reflect the serenity and beauty of trees and old houses.
Luu Thi Bao Vi, a student of Thuy Duong, Junior Secondary School, portrays her best friend in Chan Dung Ban Toi (My Friend).
Most of the paintings are colourful and show daily life, landscapes, women, and children. Some of them are placid portraits of children at play, at home, or in school.
"I can see a new and more beautiful world through the eyes of the young painters," said Nguyen Thi My Hien, who visited the exhibition's opening ceremony last week.
The exhibition is on at 4 Hoang Hoa Tham Street until late this month.
