Ba Ria-Vung Tau to host 21st Vietnam Film Festival
The 21st Vietnam Film Festival will take place in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau from November 23-27, with a wide range of activities, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the festival will be broadcast live on national and provincial television channels.
Within the framework of the festival, there will be workshops on improving Vietnam’s cinematographic works amidst international integration and filming locations in Vietnam, along with exchanges between actors, actresses and their fans.
Other events include film weeks in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and an exhibition on national sea and islands.
Of note, local cinemas will offer free screenings of new Vietnamese movies during the festival.
At the closing ceremony on November 27, the organising board will present Golden and Silver Lotus awards to the best films in several categories, as well as awards to the most outstanding directors, screenwriters and main actors and actresses.
The festival is expected to bring together 1,600 guests.
The 20th Vietnam Film Festival was held in the central city of Da Nang last year with the participation of 77 movies. The film “Em Chua 18” (Jailbait), directed by Le Thanh Son, won the golden lotus prize for the best feature film.
