The week was opened with the free screening of “Saigon, I Love You”, a 90-minute comedy by Director Ly Minh Thang featuring five couples from different places and backgrounds who choose Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) as their home.  The movie tells the stories of their loves and lives with the culture and lifestyle of the Saigonese throughout.

It won the best feature film, best screenplay and best cinematography at the Golden Kite Award this year. 

Twenty-seven other movies will also be screened during the week, including “12 Chom Sao: Ve Duong Cho Yeu Chay” (12 Zodiac: Five Steps of Love), “Dao Cua Dan Ngu Cu” (The Way Station), “Co Hau Gai” (The House Maid), “Ve Si Sai Gon” (Saigon Bodyguard), “Co Ba Sai Gon” (Miss Saigon). 

All the films will be screened in Vietnamese with English subtitles at the National Cinema Center, at 87 Lang Ha, Hanoi, and Cinestar Cinema, 135 Hai Ba Trung Street, Ho Chi Minh City. 

The 20th Vietnam Film Festival will be held in the Central coastal city of Da Nang from November 24-28. The event will feature seminars featuring the development of the Vietnam and ASEAN film industry, film screenings, an exhibition on Vietnamese cinema, and art exchanges.
