The event, jointly organized by the Municipal Ao Dai Association and the Municipal Youth Cultural House, was part of the series of ongoing events entitled “Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Cultural Festival 2025” from June 21 to October 20 this year. These activities are to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) and the Vietnam Family Day (June 28).

Honoring journalists with contribution to preserving and promoting the cultural values of the ao dai

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Dung emphasized that the Ao Dai Cultural Festival is not only a typical cultural-tourism event, but also contributes to preserving and spreading the value of the Vietnamese ao dai.

The city leader affirmed that as the largest economic and cultural center in the country, Ho Chi Minh City would continue honoring national culture, popularizing the ao dai to the world, making it a typical cultural-tourism-creative product of the city and creating conditions for artisans and designers to promote their creativity, and develop sustainable ao dai culture.

An impressive performance with the ao dai

The gala program featured more than 100 collections of the ao dai by artisans and designers from Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Long An province and Hanoi capital city. Many collections left deep impressions on viewers because they are made from silk, environmentally friendly materials with hand-embroidered motifs, gemstones, traditional patterns which require high craftsmanship.

Also at the event, the organizing panel honored 13 ao dai cultural entrepreneurs, four ao dai cultural ambassadors and 20 journalists with contributions to preserving and promoting the cultural values of the ao dai. Ten ao dai tailors facing hard living conditions were also honored and received gifts.

Within the gala program, a display of more than 100 photos of ao dai-related activities offered unforgettable experience to both domestic and international visitors through typical check-in corners and interesting experiencing activities.
