Addressing the meeting, the Vietnamese diplomat emphasized that people are central to the efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and to recover towards sustainable development, especially during the current difficult time.

Ambassador Vu Ho suggested ASEAN and New Zealand continue to give high priority to COVID-19 response coordination, guarantee vaccine and medicine access in an equal and full manner, and proactively respond to possible disease outbreaks in the future.

The Vietnamese ambassador suggested ASEAN and New Zealand promote collaboration in education, which is their key cooperation field.

He also hoped that the two sides will maintain and boost current cooperation activities. He expressed his hope that New Zealand will assist ASEAN in building high-quality human resources.

Also at the event, Ambassador Vu Ho confirmed that as the chair of ASEAN Education for the 2022-2023 period, Vietnam is willing to join hands with New Zealand and other ASEAN member states to improve self-reliance in the regional education system and actively cope with future challenges.

The acting head of Vietnam ASEAN SOM said that in the context of the current complicated and unpredictable situations in the region and the world, countries should enhance dialogue, cooperation, trust building and the rule of law for an environment of peace, security, stability, thus creating favorable conditions for recovery and sustainable development.
