Memorial service held for 49 Cambodian martyrs
PANO - Delegations of the Vietnamese and Cambodian Defense Ministry co-held a memorial service for 49 Cambodian martyrs on November 26 in Cam My district, Dong Nai province.
Major General Du Truong Giang, Second-in-Command of Military Region 7 (MR7), and representatives of MR7; and General Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Gendarmerie, attended the event.

Addressing the ceremony, General Sao Sokha thanked the Vietnam People’s Army for supporting Cambodia to gain victory over Pol Pot genocidal regime and in national construction and development. He also affirmed the assistance of MR7 and Dong Nai provincial authorities in collecting and repatriating the Cambodian martyrs’ remains.
On this occasion, representatives of the two defense ministries handed over gifts to local authorities and Division 302 of the MR7.
After the ceremony, relevant forces started collecting the martyrs’ remains. As scheduled, they will complete their task by November 29 and then hand over the remains to the Cambodian side.
