Towards the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, the two FMs reached consensus on organizing high-level visits, enhancing coordination, and improving efficiency of dialogue mechanisms, including the 12th meeting of Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee. They were also unanimous in implementing ODA programs for Vietnam, further cooperate and share viewpoints in the framework of the United Nations, ASEAN, Mekong, contributing to upholding regional peace, stability, prosperity and sustainable development.

Meanwhile, meeting with Vietnamese FM Son, foreign ministers of China, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan highly appreciated Vietnam’s role in the region and confirmed their desire to expand cooperation with the country. They proposed several measures such as delegation exchange, strengthening of economic-trade relations, and restoration of people-to-people exchange. They also laid stress on cooperation areas such as finance, green economy, circular economy, climate change response, support for small- and medium-sized enterprises, and more.

In their meeting, FM Son and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi emphasized the importance of consolidating the Vietnam-China traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation. They agreed to promote all-rounded cooperation and political trust, including high-level and all-level exchanges and interactions, removal of obstacles in trade, response to epidemics, connecting road and railway, and people-to-people exchange.

FM Son affirmed that Vietnam persistently follows the ‘One China’ policy, and joins other ASEAN member nations to call on relevant parties to exercise restraint, avoid complicating the situation and escalating tensions, and properly handle disagreements, for peace and stability in the region and the world.

At the meeting with his Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishanka, FM Son suggested strengthening of Mekong sub-region cooperation. Both Indian and Vietnamese officials agreed to prioritize sustainable management of water resources, climate change response, and cooperation between the Mekong River Commission and the National Ganga River Basin Authority.

In their meeting, FM Son and E.U. High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell spoke highly of the outcomes of the implementation of the E.U.-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). The Vietnamese foreign minister hoped that the E.U. and its members will soon ratify the E.U.-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), remove the yellow card against Vietnamese seafood, and establish a just energy transition partnership with Vietnam.

Agreeing to effectively organize celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations next year, FM Son and his Bangladeshi counterpart A.K Abdul Momen were unanimous in striving to bring the two-way trade turnover to USD 2 billion, strengthen cooperation in agriculture, tourism, culture, education and promote people-to-people exchange.

FM Son suggested the two sides soon organize the 3rd Joint Trade Subcommittee and the 2nd Political Consultation and Bangladesh support Vietnam's candidacy for the U.N. Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term.

At the meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Bilawai Bhutto Zardari, FM Son agreed on the need to implement signed agreements, and soon organize a political consultation, and meetings of the intergovernmental committee and trade subcommittee. The Vietnamese official also suggested Pakistan consider lifting import restrictions on Vietnamese aquatic products and mobile phones. Regarding the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations this year, both officials reached agreement on organizing cultural promotion events.
