This course is held as part of a training cooperation project between Dien Bien province and Laos’ Northern provinces in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision towards 2030.

According to Deputy Director of the Dien Bien provincial Department of Education and Training Lo Thi Thoi, 40 students from three Lao provinces of Luang Phrabang, Oudomxay, and Phongsaly will learn Vietnamese at Dien Bien’s Continuing Education Center.

The course will take place from October 2024 to July 2025. At the end of the program, the participating Lao students will sit an assessment exam according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners (six levels) as regulated by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training. Accordingly, students at the intermediate and college levels must achieve a B1 level (level 3/6), while those at the university level must reach a B2 (level 4/6) to meet the requirements for studying their chosen majors at educational institutions.

Speaking at the event, a Lao representative wished that Dien Bien province would effectively train to enhance the Lao students’ skills and competence to contribute to their country’s development in the future. He said that the course's results will help strengthen the friendship and solidarity between the two parties and states in general, and between Dien Bien and the Northern provinces of Laos in particular.

In recent years, as part of the training cooperation project between, Dien Bien has trained nearly 1,000 students and officials from the Northern provinces of Laos, contributing to enhancing the quality of human resources in the country. 

At the opening ceremony, the Dien Bien provincial Department of Education and Training presented rewards to teachers and staff who achieved outstanding results in the education and training sector in the 2023-2024 academic year.
