Speaking at the event, Quang said the central city of Da Nang has decided to provide 6.7 million USD in non-refundable aid from its local budget to support Sekong province in building the Da Nang - Sekong Friendship Hospital during the 2026–2030 period.

He described the project as a concrete demonstration of the special solidarity between the two localities as well as the broader close ties between Vietnam and Laos.

For his part, Bounlai Boutthi said the project represents an important friendship initiative from Da Nang and reflects the strong support that Sekong province has received from Vietnam over the years, particularly in the healthcare sector.

He noted that the hospital will play a significant role in improving medical examination and treatment services for residents in Sekong and other provinces in southern Laos.

The hospital will be built in Sekong province's Thateng district with a total investment of about 6.7 million USD funded by Da Nang. The facility is designed to accommodate around 100–120 beds and is expected to become a center for medical services and practical training for healthcare workers in southern Laos.

The project is expected to improve healthcare access for residents while further strengthening cooperation and friendship between Da Nang and Sekong, as well as the broader Vietnam - Laos relationship.
