Da Nang, Champasak enjoy sound cooperation

Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Laos’ Champasak province Bounthong Divixay and Secretary of the Party Committee of the central city of Da Nang Nguyen Xuan Anh reviewed cooperation between the localities during a meeting in Da Nang on November 29.
Da Nang and Champasak have enjoyed a strong partnership, especially in education and culture. The two sides signed two memorandums of understanding and a statement on cooperation in the field.

In 2010-2012, Da Nang supported Champasak in implementing 11 projects with a total investment of VND 7.578 billion. All the projects are now operational.
In 2013-2017, Da Nang will send two Vietnamese teachers to the Vietnamese Language Center of Champasak while investing VND 1.27 billion in a lighting system in Pakse town.
The city will continue assisting the Lao locality in design and planning to upgrade Pakse town to a city.
Da Nang granted scholarships totaling VND 1.462 billion to Champasak students from 2013 to 2015. The city helped Champasak upgrade Khongsedone Secondary School with a total capital of VND 7.5 billion.
Da Nang’s exports to Laos in the first nine months of 2016 reached USD 18.7 million. Four Da Nang companies invest in Laos with a total capital of nearly USD 52.3 million.
Since 2002, Da Nang University has received 750 Lao students, while awarding 43 scholarships for students from southern provinces of Laos. The number of Lao students studying in Da Nang without scholarships has increased to 300.
