According to the official, the MoU on development cooperation signed between Vinh Long and Banteay Meanchey in 2011 and other documents on cooperation in the 2012-2016 and 2017-2022 periods have contributed to strengthening the solidarity and cooperation between the two localities.

This year, the two localities plan to ink a cooperation agreement for the 2024-2029 period, Ngoi said.

Vinh Long is home to about 22,000 Khmer people or 2.2% of its population, he said, adding that the provincial authorities always pay attention to implementing policies on ethnic groups of the Party and the State, helping Khmer people improve their material and spiritual lives.

The official expressed his hope that the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive and long-term sustainable cooperation between the two countries and the localities will grow stronger in the coming time.

For his part, Reatrey extended his New Year wishes to the local Party organization, authorities and people.

Vinh Long is an important partner of Banteay Meanchey in all fields, he stressed, expressing his hope that the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, and the two localities in particular will further flourish in the future.
