PANO - A high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation, led by Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, on May 21st headed for the ASEAN Regional Forum Security Policy Conference (ASPC), to take place May 21st to 24th in Brunei.

ASPC is the highest-level annual conference of military officers in the framework of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). Representatives from 27 ARF members (at Deputy Ministerial level or equivalent) will participate in this event.

This year’s ASPC focuses on discussing current security challenges, the importance of promoting people-to-people exchanges among defence and military organizations under ARF, cooperation measures within ARF, and regional and international endeavours in enhancing network security.

Taking part in this conference, the Vietnamese delegation aims to keep confirming the Party and the State’s multilateral and diversified external policies but firmly protect the national interest. Moreover, the presence of the Vietnamese delegation is seen as a confirmation of Vietnam’s role and position as an active and responsible ASEAN member in international and regional issues, for peace, stability and development in the region and the rest of the world.
