Over 100 Vietnamese engineers recognized with ASEAN certificate
PANO - The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) in collaboration with the ASEAN Engineers Registration Council, the Electricity Corporation (EVN), and the Vietnam Electricity Association held a ceremony to award the ASEAN professional engineer certificate and badge to 109 Vietnamese engineers.
In his speech, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of VUSTA, Chairman of the ASEAN Engineers Registration Council of Vietnam, said that VUSTA is the largest organization in the country to represent members from 93 national industry associations, 63 local unions and more than 600 research institutes, science and technology groups from fields of natural sciences, social sciences, technology and engineering.
Meanwhile, EVN Deputy General Director Vo Quang Lam stressed that the registration of professional engineers has been carried out for many years in Australia, the U.K. and the U.S. In Asia, countries such as Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia… have also conducted similar work.
In developed nations, the professional engineer certificate is considered the highest honor for an engineer. Once winning the certificate, engineers will have the opportunity to travel throughout ASEAN countries to work without doing a selection process.
In order to receive this certificate, engineers must meet the minimum standards of qualifications, competence, experience and professional ethics as prescribed by the ASEAN Engineers Registration Council. In addition, they should be able to use English fluently at work, and adapt and integrate quickly into diverse cultural environments in different countries in ASEAN.
