The event was held under the approval of the Prime Minister and chaired by Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu.

The annual ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony has become a proud tradition across its member states. The event is held to honor the shared values and show countries’ commitment to promoting solidarity, friendship, and cooperation within the ASEAN Community for regional peace, cooperation, and prosperity.

Since its establishment 58 years ago, ASEAN has made remarkable strides, establishing itself as a key driving force in regional development. Its external partnerships have grown in both breadth and depth, contributing to ASEAN’s dynamic growth and enhancing its global stature.

Current global and regional developments require ASEAN countries uphold the values of dialogue, cooperation, multilateralism, and the rule of law, while safeguarding peace, security, and stability. These are vital prerequisites for sustainable development and the long-term success of the ASEAN Community.

This year also marks three decades since Vietnam officially joined ASEAN. Having entered the association during its early stages of reform and international integration, Vietnam has consistently regarded ASEAN cooperation as a strategic priority. Over the past 30 years, the country has remained steadfast in its commitment to building a united and resilient ASEAN.

From fulfilling its duties as a new member in the early days, Vietnam has grown into a confident and pro-active contributor, helping shape ASEAN’s strategies and playing a leading role in many of the association’s key initiatives.
