Themed “Promoting human resource development and decent work for migrant workers”, the meeting was attended by representatives of the government; relevant ministries and sectors; municipal People’s Committee of Da Nang; ministerial delegations of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam; delegations from international organizations such as the ILO (International Labor Organization), IOM (International Organization for Migration), UNDP (United Nations Development Program); representatives of vocational training institutions and labor exporters in Da Nang city and neighboring provinces.

At the meeting, delegates exchanged information about labor policies, experience in management of migrant workers and updated the situations of migrant workers in CLMTV countries. The delegations also discussed future impacts of sustainable employment and social security on migrant workers and assessed the implementation of activities carried out among the five countries, especially in the realm of cross-border employment and projects on vocational training and prevention of human trafficking.

The delegations then issued a joint statement on safe migrant labor among the five countries and suggested prioritized activities to support migrant workers and protect their rights in the coming time.
