Particularly, agencies, units, and localities will promote information dissemination regarding Vietnam’s legitimate rights and interests in the sea based on international law as well as the Vietnamese Party’ guidelines and State’s policies on national seas and islands.

They will also accelerate activities on marine environment protection and preservation, sustainable development of marine biodiversity, responses to climate change and sea level rise, and search and rescue at sea.

In addition, activities to raise people’s living standards, strengthen marine culture, build a friendly marine environment, maintain defense and security for marine economic development, prevent illegal fishing, and promote international marine cooperation will be also carried out.

This year’s Vietnam Sea and Islands Week is themed “Ocean protection and the sustainable development of marine livelihoods in Vietnam” in accordance with the 2021 World Oceans Day’s theme, “Ocean: Life and Livelihoods.”

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requested agencies, units, and localities to strictly observe COVID-19 prevention and control regulations while organizing activities, so as to protect people’s health and raise public awareness of seas and islands protection.
