The event saw the participation of more than 300 officers and soldiers from the Hai Phong city Military Command and Do Son district’s Youth Union members.

The summer volunteer activities are conducted regularly by the city command, showing the role as a military of work. Through these activities, the command hope to raise awareness and responsibility and promote the vanguard role and the spirit of creativity and volunteer of young troops.

Over the past time, the command, together with the city’s youths, has carried out dissemination work to mobilize people to join hands to safeguard national sovereignty over sea and islands through practical activities, including “Volunteer Saturday,” “Green Sunday,” and “Joining hands to clean marine environment – For a green Vietnam.”

Meanwhile, the command’s youths have engaged in activities to build a model new-style rural area and civilized urban area, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, ensure social security and conduct voluntary activities for the community; and implemented the “Standing by students to go to school” program to support disadvantaged students.

In order to successfully fulfill the targets of the “Youth and the homeland's sea and islands" festive day and the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, the command’s city has focused on strengthening information dissemination to raise awareness of troops, youths and people of national sovereignty over sea and islands; organizing activities to clean and protect the environment; and coordinating with other forces to conduct gratitude activities.

On the occasion, the organizing panel presented 20 gifts to typical fishermen and offered 10 gifts to outstanding students who are children of fishermen with difficult conditions.

The command’s troops and the city’s youth cleaning up the beach

After the launching ceremony, delegates cleaned up the environment and collected rubbish surrounding the beach area in Hai Son ward.

Earlier, the delegates offered incense in tribute to heroic martyrs of no-number ships at Wharf K15.
