Hundreds of billions of VND raised for activities towards national seas and islands
PANO – Over VND 334 billion was raised for activities towards national seas and islands, heard at a gathering held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) chapter in Ho Chi Minh City on December 28 to celebrate the 10th founding anniversary of the city’s fund of “For Vietnam's seas and islands - for the frontline of the country” (2009-2019).
Accordingly, the city’s VFFCC chapter accelerated information dissemination and organized various programs towards the national seas and islands. Meanwhile, a lot of patrol boats, medical equipment, medicines, sports facilities, .etc, were presented to troops on duty at sea and on islands by the fund. In addition, it also sponsored many programs, such as “Houses for troops and needy people in border areas”, or “Fresh water in border area”, for troops and people in border localities.
On the sideline of the event, the organizers launched other activities such as a photo exhibition, an art exchange or sight-seeing tours on the Sai Gon River.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Municipal People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 17 units while the city’s VFFCC chapter honored 58 groups and 60 individuals in recognition of their contribution to the information dissemination on national seas and islands over the past 10 years.
