Eleventh working delegation visits Truong Sa island district and DK1 platforms

During the six-day visit, the delegation crossed more than 1,000 nautical miles to visit and present gifts to troops and people on five islands in the Truong Sa (Spartly) archipelago and DK1/21 platform, completing all set plans and ensuring absolute safety.  

During the visit, the mission also learnt about troops and islanders’ life and outcomes of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands. Delegates offered incense in commemoration of naval troops who laid down their lives in the Truong Sa archipelago and paid tribute to martyrs at Gac Ma Memorial Site in Cam Lam district, Khanh Hoa province. 

Within the framework of the working visit, the delegation had an artistic exchange with troops and islanders living and performing missions on islands and platforms. Four contests on national sea and islands were also held during the trip, attracting the attention of members of the delegation.

Speaking at the trip review ceremony, Rear Admiral Pham Nhu Xuan emphasized that the trip contributed to spreading the patriotism and love for national sea and islands to the delegation’s members, including those who came to the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK1 platforms for the first time.  

Activities within the visit demonstrated the mainland’s sentiment, care, and trust in troops and people in Truong Sa island district and DK1 platforms, serving as an encouragement to help them continue to hold on to the sea and successfully fulfill the mission of safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands and continental shelf of the nation. 

At the event, the Naval Service handed over the “For the protection of national sovereignty over sea and islands cause” insignia and “Truong Sa soldier” medal to members of the delegation.
