The winner of the contest’s first prize, Pham Huong Giang, an eighth grader from Nguyen Trai A Secondary School, said that she was happy to join the event, during which she learnt more about legal regulations related to national seas and islands and the Vietnamese Coast Guard. She stressed that she will share her acquired knowledge with her friends and relatives.
Through the contest, the organizers hoped that the contest provoked patriotism, love among youths for national seas and islands and civil responsibility for safeguarding the national maritime sovereignty would be raised.
According to Major General Doan Bao Quyet, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, such a contest has been organized effectively in provinces and cities nationwide.
General Quyet added that the contest has inspired students to learn more about national seas and islands.
Apart from this contest, the Vietnam Coast Guard has also organized other significant programs, such as “The Coast Guard supports fishermen”, “Coast guards stand by ethnic minority and religious groups”. These programs have helped consolidated relations between the Coast Guard and people.
