The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong; leaders of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, Naval Service, Vietnam Coast Guard Command, Vietnam Border Guard Command, and relevant organs.

Addressing the event, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalist’ Association Nguyen Duc Loi noted that this is an annual program held by the association, aiming to honor great contribution of those who dedicated their lives to protect the national sovereignty over sea and islands.

In addition, he underlined that over the past time, press agencies have actively and effectively disseminated information about the importance of the national sea and islands with innovated contents and forms.

Meanwhile, they also reflected the national development of sea-based economy. Reporters visited waters and islands to product more articles which contributed to affirming the inseparable part of the Vietnam’s sea and islands, promoting patriotism among people, and expanding the country’s image to the world.

The exchange was divided into three parts, drawing the participation of many famous artists.

During the event, a representative of the Nguoi Lao dong (Labor) Newspaper presented 20,000 national flags to the Vietnam Journalists’ Association to hand over the fishermen so as to encourage them to continue their business at sea.
