Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, said the launch of the Almaty-Da Nang route marked a significant milestone in enhancing Da Nang’s tourism links with Kazakhstan and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It is expected to attract visitors from this promising market to Da Nang and the central region of Vietnam.

In recent times, the department has actively developed plans to cater to international visitors from CIS countries via direct flights. Efforts have focused on market research, promotional campaigns, and enhancing security measures to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences for travelers. The city has also prepared tailored tourism products and improved service quality to meet the needs of international tourists.

In the evening of the same day, Da Nang will welcome flight 8M-454 of Myanmar Airways International, departing from Yangon, carrying nearly 120 passengers to explore the coastal city.

The Yangon–Da Nang route, operated by Myanmar Airways International, runs twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays using an Embraer E190 aircraft. This new connection marks a milestone as Da Nang now has direct flights from eight out of 10 Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, and Myanmar. It also increases the total number of scheduled international routes to Da Nang to 16.

As of April 2, the Da Nang International Airport is handling an average of 52 international flights per day. With a strategic vision to diversify its international market, Da Nang’s tourism sector aims to further expand its global air network, connecting the city with more destinations worldwide.
