Vingroup offers DNA tests to identify fallen soldiers
PANO - The “Kind Heart” Foundation of Vingroup has launched a program to give DNA tests for fallen soldiers’ identification.
The program was part of the group’s activities in paying tribute to fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom and practical support for needy families who are seeking for their relatives’ remains on the occasion of the 70th War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
DNA tests to be conducted on the personal genome machine system of new generation
Accordingly, since July 27, 2017, all DNA tests to identify fallen soldiers will be free for fallen soldiers’ families.
The Vinmec Gene Technology and Stem Cell Research Institute under Vinmec medical system will be in charge of conducting DNA tests.
According to Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, the institute’s director, the institute will invite both domestic and international experts to build an action plan and carry out tests with high accuracy. DNA tests will be conducted on the personal genome machine system of new generation.
Liem also added that the institute will build a bank of gene of fallen soldiers' relatives and a bank of gene of suspected fallen soldiers for analysis, check and data exchanges.
Searching and repatriating martyrs’ remains are one of the big issues of the policy work, which has been paid due attention to and gained positive outcomes. However, lots of martyrs’ remains have not been repatriated yet.
