The Thai Foreign Minister, Kasit Piromya, will pay an official visit to Vietnam on February 25 at the invitation of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem.

The visit is to underline Thailand’s policy of promoting cooperation with Vietnam at bilateral and multilateral levels for mutual benefit and prosperity in the region with a view to building up the ASEAN Community.

During the visit, Thailand also wants to encourage relationship with the private sector, and promote closer links in education and development. In addition, both countries will discuss cooperation in the trade and investment fields within the framework of the Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya -Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
