Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Le Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the provincial Public Security Department, said recent years have seen many cases across the country involving children being deceived, exploited, or abused through online platforms. These incidents, he noted, highlight the urgent need for a widespread communication campaign to raise public awareness of online safety, particularly among students and young people.

The drive, supported by the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, looks to mobilize efforts by entire society and international partners to jointly fight against online child abduction and abuse.
In response, the Quang Tri Department of Public Security and Department of Education and Training are rolling out activities from October 6 to November 30 to raise public awareness, promote community engagement, and protect children from online risks, he said.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training Phan Huu Huyen affirmed that the education sector is committed to supporting the campaign by integrating online safety lessons into schools which, in turn, have been instructed to incorporate materials from the handbook "Not Alone – Together for Online Safety" into classroom and extracurricular activities.
Huyen said local education institutions will hold seminars and discussions with experts to help students learn from real-life stories and practice how to respond to risky online situations. Teachers will also be trained to recognize unusual signs among students and to listen empathetically without judgment.
He stressed the need for closer cooperation among schools, families, and authorities through regular exchanges with local police and parent workshops to equip families with digital safety knowledge.
At the event, students attended a presentation on online kidnapping risks, watched short plays about cyber scams, and joined debates on data safety and how to recognize online strangers — all aimed at equipping them with essential knowledge and digital skills.
