Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VNFU) Luong Quoc Doan said in the past two years, Vietnamese farmers have continued to overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and stay united to help each other reduce poverty, contributing to the development of the homeland and the country as well as join hands to build a rich and beautiful new-style countryside and civilized urban areas.
Honouring excellent Vietnamese farmers is to recognize their efforts, ethics and creativity to agricultural production, new-style rural building and national defense, he said, adding that it is expected to help spread the model of new-generation farmers in the national industrialization and modernization period.
This was the ninth time the ceremony had been held by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to honor Vietnamese farmers.
At the ceremony, on behalf of leaders of the Party and the State, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented the certificates of merit to the honored farmers.
