The event saw the participation of Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Vu Hai San, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Thao Xuan Sung and other representatives of provinces, cities, and enterprises as well as 63 outstanding farmers who won the “Excellent Vietnamese Farmers” title.

Addressing the event, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Thao Xuan Sung stressed that the event is an annual activity of the union to honor farmers nationwide.

The 8th program drew the attention of millions of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union’s members and other people across the country.

He also believed that the program would further encourage farmers to increase their production and business, reduce poverty sustainably, and participate in new-style rural construction.

Reportedly, the 63 honored Vietnamese farmers include both men and female. The oldest award holders are Huynh Van Be from Dong Thap and Tran Ngoc Hoa from Lam Dong. The youngest one is Nguyen Ngoc Thach, born in 1987 in Lang Son province.

The honorable farmers are those who have achieved significant results in the 5 fields of animal breeding, cultivation, fishery, business and agriculture services, and the government’s new rural plan and farmer participation in defense and security movement.

The 63 excellent farmers in 2020 represent excellent Vietnam farmers with production models generating high incomes. Most of them earned VND 1 billion per year and the lowest income was around VND 500 million per year.
