* On July 12, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) and the Ho Chi Minh City Charity Group handed over 276 gratitude houses to needy veterans in Ha Giang province.
Present at the ceremony were former State President Truong Tan Sang and his wife; Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army; and Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Soat, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)/ Mine Action Efforts (VNASMA); among others.

In order to support war veterans facing housing difficulties, the VRCS Central Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Charity Group with the participation of former State President Truong Tan Sang and his wife had conducted a program providing financial assistance for the construction of 356 houses for Ha Giang war veterans.
80 of the 356 houses under the program had been completed and presented to the local war veterans prior to the 2019 Lunar New Year festival.
On this occasion, the VNASMA presented 40 breeding cattle to help UXO victims in Ha Giang province to develop their household economies and get rid of poverty.

* On the same day, a mission of the Defense Ministry, led by its Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, visited convalescence centers for policy beneficiaries in Da Nang city and Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.
General Chiem inquired after and presented gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, and national contributors at these centers.
At the meetings, the general underlined that the Party, State, military, and whole society always remember and pay tribute to martyrs, Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, and national contributors. He wanted that they would continue the heroic tradition and become examples for younger generations to follow.
In addition, the Deputy Defense Minister asked the centers’ staff to heighten responsibility to take better care of Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, and national contributors.
On this occasion, representatives of Military Region 5 and other military units stationed in these localities granted gifts to the three centers.
Besides, the delegation laid flowery wreaths, offered incense, and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and heroic martyrs at the traditional house of Division 315 of Military Region 5.
