Present at the event were Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member and Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Thanh Ngan, former Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA); Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the VPA’s General Department of Politics; and Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association; among others.
In her speech, Mai congratulated the honored on their achievements and highlighted the PAN’s initiative to launch and conduct a writing contest that has contributed to popularizing exemplary people and models in implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's laws, mass mobilization, and patriotic emulation in the present national construction and defense cause.

During the awarding ceremony, the participants watched clips reviewing 10 years of the writing contest with a large number of articles reflecting good people from all walks of life who have devoted themselves to their communities and the country, and actively followed the life, revolutionary career, working style, and morals of President Ho Chi Minh.
Over the past 10 years, the organizers have received hundreds of articles, and the juries have decided to award 21 outstanding articles.
Addressing the ceremony, Major General Pham Van Huan, the PAN’s Editor-in-Chief and head of the organizing panel, said that the writing contest is to realize President Ho Chi Minh’s instructions on political and ideological education, contributing to spreading exemplary people and good deeds in the society.
After the 10 edition of the writing contest “Simple but noble examples,” the organizers decided to rename the contest as “Following Uncle Ho’s example,” in order to further discover, honor, and popularize those who well implement the movement on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals, and style. Entries should be sent to the organizers from May 30, 2019 to February 29, 2020.
