PANO - For all performances Vietnam's young swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien has made over the past four days of the 28th SEA Games in Singapore, she literally deserves to be known as "Iron Girl".
In a talk with PAN's reporters in Sports Hub, Singapore, the 18-year-old versatile swimmer, a non-commissioned officer of the Vietnam People's Army, shared that her main goal is not to break the games' records but to win herself.
Her coach Dang Anh Tuan also reminded her every time that her rivals are not other athletes and success lies in overcoming herself, she added.
She stressed that she obviously could not win all the events, especially those which are not her specialties, and hoped that her fans do not overestimate her chances for success.
When the young athlete was questioned whether she was stressed while being registered in so many swimming categories of the 28th SEA Games, she revealed that the coach understood her ability and he made suitable decisions for her to achieve the best possible results.
